Development InternAt — Anaheim Family YMCA
The Development Intern will support the Anaheim YMCA’s fundraising and donor engagement efforts through administrative and outreach task. This position is ideal for a student or emerging professional interested in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, philanthropy, and community impact.
The intern will play an important role in helping the Development Department. They gain hands-on experience through administrative tasks, database management, and preparing outreach materials.
Availability: Monday - Friday from 9:00am – 4:00pm; morning or afternoon shifts available upon discussion. Some weekends may required.
Tasks:
- Database management: manage and maintain donor records within the organization's donor database, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Preparing fundraising materials
- Support the development and execution of annual fundraising campaigns, sponsorship initiatives, and special events.
- Preparing donor materials
- Prepare donor communications, acknowledgment letters, fundraising appeals, stewardship reports, and campaign materials.
- Assist with donor cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation activities to support fundraising goals and community impact initiatives.
Training:
- The intern will shadow the director of annual development.
- Introduction to nonprofit fundraising principles, donor engagement strategies, and philanthropic best practices.
- The director of annual development will provide one-on-one mentoring.
- Guidance on preparing professional donor communications, fundraising appeals, impact reports, and stewardship materials.
- Regular feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations to support the intern's learning objectives and professional growth.
- The intern gets hands on experience
- Training on donor database and constituent relationship management (CRM) systems, including data entry, gift processing, reporting, and record maintenance.
- Training on prospect research methods, donor identification, and philanthropic trend analysis.
