Administrative InternAt — Mental State Foundation
We provide grants for creatives focusing on their mental wellness. Whether they are living with mental illness or going through a difficult time. Grants go toward classes, experiences, and materials in the arts (music, art, dance, etc.) to learn, explore, build confidence, and enjoy!
Key Responsibilities
- Support development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Succession Planning.
- Assist in launching key programs, including the Creative Accountability Program and the Therapist Infrastructure Program.
- Support grant writing, donor communication, and sponsorship outreach.
- Contribute to communications efforts, both internal (team updates, coordination) and external (monthly newsletters, social media, community updates, and key information).
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Executive Director.
Tasks:
Support development of Standard Operating Procedure and Succession Planning in collaboration with Executive Director and President.
Participate in the launch of the Creative Accountability Program and assist when needed during our pilot program.
Participate in the launch of our Therapist Infrastructure Program.
Participate in Communications through draft writing, grant writing, donor correspondence, social media, newsletters, etc.
Training:
The student will receive a general orientation and weekly scheduled one-to-one mentor meetings. The student will also be invited to shadow and participate in various committee meetings and have access to nonprofit documents.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:
(1) Demonstrate an understanding of nonprofit governance practices, including the development of Standard Operating Procedures and succession planning.
(2) Apply knowledge of program development by contributing to the launch and coordination of key nonprofit initiatives.
(3) Develop professional communication skills through drafting grant writing, donor correspondence, newsletters, marketing, etc.
