TK Assistant Teacher InternAt — Hillsborough Private School

TK prepares the students for kindergarten while helping build social skills an motor skill. A TK assistant teacher helps support the Lead teacher within the class. There will also be times where the assistant teacher works and leads small groups of students. They will also be required to help prepare the lesson plans with the lead teacher. 

Tasks;

- Supervision of the children during classroom and outside activities including lunch and recess
-assisting the lead teacher with lessons and working in small groups following the lead of the head teacher
- Helping and providing support of students who need extra help during work
-setting up stations and art and cleaning up when don
- help maintain a schedule
- Observing and documenting the progression of children and their behavior when asked to

Training:

There will be a general orientation that goes over the rules and expectations of being a TK assistant teacher. We will hold weekly meetings on Friday's from 12:00-12:30 or 12:30-1:00. The assistant TK teacher will shadow a TK teacher who has been working with us for 8 years and has a degree in Child and Adolescent Studies. There will be assigned tasks that include helping prep supplies for the day and working with small groups following the lead of the head teacher.

1. The student will be able to recognize the child development for students 4-5 years of age
2. They will have learned classroom management . For example, being able to establish and follow a routine
3. They will gain confidence in lesson planning that included diverse learning strategies
4. gain confidence with communicating with parents and children
