About Extraordinary Pictures

Extraordinary Pictures is the production company founded by filmmaker Natalie Rodriguez, dedicated to creating impactful stories across film, television, and digital media. Natalie is also a CSUF alumna, class of 2014 (Radio-TV-Film).

Current projects include:

  • Inner Child (@innerchildmovie) – A psychological horror feature film currently in development, with the book adaptation releasing in fall 2026.

  • We Love You, Matty Cat (@matty_cat_2012) – A family-friendly animated feature film in development based on the beloved short film series, including Matty Cat, Merry Christmas, Matty Cat, and You Are Irreplaceable, Matty Cat.

  • Hair Flip – A fantastical family drama feature film currently in development.

  • The Extraordinary Ordinary (@theextraordfilm) and Howard Original (@howardoriginal1) – Feature films currently available on streaming platforms, along with their short film adaptations.

Position Overview

Extraordinary Pictures is seeking creative, motivated interns interested in film, entertainment, marketing, and media development.

Interns will assist with promoting existing feature films and short film adaptations, while also supporting upcoming projects currently in development, including Hair Flip, Inner Child, and We Love You, Matty Cat.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Researching and compiling media, influencer, festival, and industry contact lists

  • Supporting marketing and public relations outreach

  • Assisting with social media promotion strategies

  • Helping create promotional materials, graphics, and video content (optional)

  • Assisting with project research and development tasks

  • Tracking outreach efforts, tasks, and progress through shared spreadsheets

Preferred Experience

  • Coursework or experience in marketing, public relations, communications, film, entertainment, or social media

  • Interest in independent filmmaking, production, publicity, or entertainment careers

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment

Training & Support

Interns will receive hands-on mentorship from filmmaker Natalie Rodriguez and the Extraordinary Pictures team. Scheduling is flexible, and all work is conducted remotely through Zoom, Google Meet, and shared online documents.

Academic Credit

This internship may qualify for academic credit, including up to 3 units (approximately 121 hours), depending on your institution’s requirements.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this internship, students will gain:

  • Experience in independent film marketing, publicity, and development

  • Exposure to entertainment industry workflows

  • Research, outreach, and organizational skills

  • A feature film internship credit
