Tasks:
The intern will perform the following duties, all of which are professional or pre-professional in nature and directly tied to the learning outcomes of a Communications degree:
1. Content Strategy & Social Media Calendar Development: Research client audiences, define content themes and posting cadence, and build monthly social media calendars across platforms including LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook. Requires strategic thinking, platform literacy, and alignment with client brand voice.
2. Professional Copywriting: Draft, edit, and refine social media posts, captions, and short-form copy for real client accounts. Work will be reviewed, revised based on feedback, and published, mirroring professional agency workflows.
3. Public Relations Writing: Produce at least one polished PR writing piece such as a press release, client newsletter, or media announcement. Applies academic training in persuasive and professional communications to a real-world deliverable.
4. Communications & Industry Research: Conduct and synthesize research on audience behavior, competitor content, platform algorithm trends, and communications best practices. Produce a written trend analysis report with strategic recommendations.
5. Content Asset Library Management: Organize and catalog approved content assets by platform, category, and tone. Develops professional content operations skills used across agencies and in-house communications teams.
6. Client-Focused Communications Support: Assist in preparing client-facing materials and contributing to team strategy discussions. Develops professional judgment, collaboration skills, and client communications competency.
All six duties are professional or pre-professional in nature (100%). No administrative, clerical, or sales duties are included. Each duty maps directly to a defined learning outcome and results in a tangible deliverable the student may include in her professional portfolio.
