Marketing Event Operations InternAt — The KYA Group
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This internship position will be responsible for assisting the KYA Kommunity with marketing materials,
systems and assisting in the implementation of new procedures to create and file records efficiently. The
paid internship requires a minimum 6-week commitment and incorporates an education element along
with teambuilding exercises.
A range of activities that an intern may experience include:
\u25cf Observing and /or interacting with various professionals related to the KYA business, including
owners, marketing, technology and clients.
\u25cf Attending staff and departmental meetings on an ongoing basis and any appropriate
management or coordination meetings.
\u25cf Assist in organizing and execution of events, email blasts and campaigns, etc.
\u25cf Supports KYA Kommunity in the planning of marketing projects and carrying out data entry,
analysis, and research.
\u25cf Work with the Marketing Coordinators to assist with print and digital collateral.
\u25cf Maintain the marketing inventory systems.
\u25cf Support the restructuring of file organization systems and processes.
WORK EXPERIENCE TOOLS / REQUIREMENTS
\u25cf Experience with Adobe Creative cloud for graphic design/motion graphics, Photography and
Social Media is a plus

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Tasks:
The student will perform professional and pre-professional marketing and business-development duties, including:
Assist Marketing Coordinators with the development of professional print and digital marketing collateral.
Assist with the planning, development, and execution of marketing campaigns.
Assist with email marketing and email-blast preparation and execution.
Support social media content development, research, scheduling, and related activities.
Assist with photography and organization of marketing photography and digital assets.
Support graphic design and creative projects using Adobe Creative Cloud when appropriate.
Conduct marketing research and compile information to support marketing initiatives and business decisions.
Perform data entry and assist with basic data analysis related to marketing activities.
Assist with maintaining and updating marketing databases, records, and inventory systems.
Organize and maintain marketing materials and inventory.
Assist with restructuring and improving digital and physical file organization systems.
Apply established file naming, organization, and records-management procedures.
Assist with the preparation and organization of materials for marketing meetings and projects.
Attend staff, departmental, marketing, and appropriate management or coordination meetings.
Observe and interact with KYA owners, marketing professionals, technology personnel, employees, and clients to understand how marketing operates within a professional organization.
Assist with planning and coordinating company events and marketing-related activities.
Support the preparation of event materials, promotional materials, and other communications.
Collaborate with Marketing Coordinators and other KYA departments to complete assigned projects.
Use Google Workspace and other business systems to create, organize, share, and maintain professional records and marketing materials.
Assist with implementing new marketing procedures and processes designed to improve efficiency and organization.
Participate in team-building and professional-development activities.
Apply professional written and verbal communication skills in interactions with KYA employees, leadership, clients, and partners.
Complete assigned marketing projects under the direction of the internship supervisors.
Prepare and deliver a final presentation or project demonstrating the marketing knowledge and professional skills developed during the internship.
The strongest part for the college-credit requirement is that the duties are not primarily administrative or observational. The student is actively participating in marketing campaigns, collateral development, research, data analysis, event execution, digital marketing, creative work, systems/process improvement, and project coordination, all directly aligned with a bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related business field.
Training
The student will receive structured, hands-on training throughout the internship, with formal training, mentorship, and feedback provided weekly, supplemented by ongoing guidance from the Marketing team.
Initial Orientation:
The student participated in an initial orientation covering KYA's business, organizational structure, workplace expectations, professional communication, confidentiality, technology systems, Google Workspace, file-management procedures, and general safety and emergency procedures. The student has been introduced to KYA's marketing department, systems, processes, and current marketing initiatives.
Marketing & Business Training:
The student will receive instruction on fundamental marketing concepts and how those concepts are applied within a professional construction and business-services environment. Training will include marketing communications, campaign development, event marketing, email marketing, social media, digital and print collateral, marketing research, and data management.
Systems & Technology Training:
The student will receive hands-on training using Google Workspace and KYA's marketing systems and processes. Training will include proper file organization, naming conventions, document management, maintaining marketing records, data entry, and accessing and organizing marketing assets.
Project-Based Training:
Students will work alongside Marketing Coordinators and other KYA professionals on actual marketing projects. Assignments will progressively increase in complexity, allowing the student to move from observation and guided activities to independently completing defined portions of marketing projects.
Professional Development:
The student will attend appropriate staff and departmental meetings and have opportunities to interact with KYA owners, employees, marketing professionals, technology personnel, and clients. This exposure will help the student understand how marketing functions within a larger organization and how marketing teams collaborate with other business functions.
Weekly Feedback & Mentorship:
A weekly mentor meeting will be conducted with the internship supervisors to review assignments, discuss accomplishments and challenges, provide constructive feedback, and establish priorities for the following week. Additional informal coaching and feedback will be provided throughout the week as the student works alongside team members.
Final Evaluation:
At the conclusion of the extended internship, the student's progress will be reviewed against the established learning outcomes. The student will complete and/or present a final marketing project demonstrating the professional skills and knowledge acquired during the internship.

Present completed marketing work or a project to KYA leadership and explain the strategy, process, and results.
