Opportunity Summary 

The Bachelor's Level Intern will support program staff in providing services to underserved individuals and families while gaining hands-on experience in community health and social services. Under the supervision of experienced staff, the intern will assist with client engagement, case management activities, resource brokering, outreach efforts, and program documentation. The internship provides opportunities to develop professionalism, strengthen communication skills, learn effective service delivery practices, and gain experience working with diverse populations.

Tasks:

Front Desk: Under general staff supervision, inter will answering phones, registering client, answering questions for clients, provide documentions. Help clients signup/register for classes. Enrolling/registering client(s) to center services.

Food distribution/diaper distribution: Help distribute food/diaper bags to families (underserved community). Help create food/diaper bags for the community out in the front of the building. The food trucks come twice a month so intern will help staff preps food for community.

Case Management: Intern will help with client screening, assess what needs they will need (therapy, food, insurance confirmation ref. other clinical referral) and make follow up phone calls to clients to make sure their needs are met or if they need additional support.

Intern will not be left alone with clients during case management and when providing resources to the clients. 

Trainging:

Bachelor's-level interns will receive a comprehensive onboarding and training experience designed to prepare them for direct client service and professional development.
Training will include:
- Comprehensive program and agency orientation
- Mandated reporter training and compliance requirements
- Review of organizational policies and procedures
- Role-playing exercises and case scenarios to build practical skills
- Job shadowing opportunities with experienced staff
- Regular one-on-one meetings with a designated preceptor/supervisor
- Skills training in client engagement, documentation, and service delivery
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system training

Learning Outcome:

- Build their professionalism.
- Learn how to work with underserved client populations.
- Increase knowledge in case management.
- Develop effective communication and interpersonal skills with clients, colleagues, and community partners.
- Gain experience in community resource navigation and making appropriate referrals to support client needs.
