Assist Doctor with patient exams and office procedures
Check In/Out patients
Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document medical histories
Prepare exam rooms and sterile instruments
Administer injections and provide patient education regarding medication, catheter change, and post-op procedures
Schedule appointments and coordinated authorizations
Tasks:
- Room Patients and prepare exam rooms
- Obtain and document vital signs and medical histories
- Assist physicians during procedures
- collect and label urine specimens and perform testings
- document patient information in the EMR
- Provide patient education regarding medication, procedures, and catheter care
- Schedule appointments and coordinate referrals.
- Communicate with patients, providers, and other healthcare staffs while ensuring patient confidentiality.
Training:
The student will receive hands-on training under the supervision of experienced physicians and medical assistants. Training will include orientation records (EMR), patient procedures, documentations, and HIPAA compliance. The student will observe and assist with urologic examinations and office procedures. This training will involve ongoing feedback, mentoring, and assessments and the students will develop technical skills and professional communications necessary to achieve the learning outcomes.
Learning Outcome:
Competently perform core medical assistant duties in the outpatient urology clinic, assist with urological procedures and EMR documentation, and provide professional communication while adhering safety and infection control standards.
