Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with therapeutic exercises and functional training
• Implement treatment plans as directed by the Physical Therapist
• Educate and instruct patients on prescribed exercises
• Monitor patient progress and document services accurately
• Ensure patient safety, comfort, and adherence to care plans
• Maintain ethical and professional standards
• Assist with therapeutic exercises and patient activities under therapist supervision.
• Prepare treatment areas and equipment for patient sessions.
• Observe and assist therapists with patient care and mobility exercises.
• Communicate professionally with patients and clinic staff.
• Maintain and organize therapy equipment and treatment areas.
• Apply knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology, and rehabilitation principles in daily tasks.
• Observe and learn proper patient safety and infection-control procedures.

Training:

Students will receive an initial clinic orientation covering safety, patient privacy, and workplace expectations. Training will include job shadowing, hands-on instruction with therapeutic exercises and equipment, and guidance on preparing treatment areas. The student will receive ongoing supervision, feedback, and mentor support to connect classroom knowledge with practical physical therapy experience.

Learning Outcomes:

1-Demonstrate proper techniques for assisting patients with therapeutic exercises and basic physical therapy activities under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
2-Apply knowledge of anatomy, kinesiology, and rehabilitation principles to better understand patient movement, exercise, and recovery.
3-Demonstrate effective communication and professional interaction with patients, physical therapists, and other healthcare staff.
4-Follow appropriate safety, infection-control, equipment, and clinic procedures while maintaining a clean and organized treatment environment.
5-Develop practical clinical skills and gain a better understanding of the role and responsibilities of physical therapy professionals in a healthcare setting.
