Position Summary

The ABA Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct, one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to children and families under the ongoing direction and close supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The Behavior Technician implements individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), collects and records behavioral data with accuracy, and supports clients in building communication, social, academic, and daily living skills. This role requires reliable transportation and a strong commitment to punctuality, as sessions take place primarily in clients' homes and the community across an assigned territory.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Deliver ABA therapy sessions with clients according to the individualized treatment plan and behavior intervention plan developed by the supervising BCBA.
• Collect accurate, real-time data on client behavior, skill acquisition, and program targets during every session.
• Implement behavior reduction and skill acquisition procedures exactly as written, escalating questions or concerns to the BCBA rather than improvising.
• Complete session notes, progress notes, and required documentation thoroughly, accurately, and on time.
• Communicate professionally and collaboratively with parents, caregivers, teachers, and other members of the treatment team.
• Arrive on time and prepared for every scheduled session, and proactively notify the scheduling team and family as early as possible of any delay or inability to attend.
• Travel to client homes, schools, or community locations as assigned, safely and dependably operating a personal vehicle.
• Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all agency policies regarding protected health information.
• Respond to feedback and coaching from the BCBA and clinical team, and apply that feedback to improve service delivery.
• Attend required team meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions.
• Maintain a safe environment for clients at all times, including during behavioral crises, and follow all safety and crisis protocols.
• Represent the company professionally, as the Behavior Technician is often the first and most frequent point of contact families have with Autism Spectrum Consultants.

Required Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), or active candidacy with certification obtained within the timeframe required by the agency.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and abuse/neglect registry check, per BACB and state requirements.
• Valid driver's license, reliable personal vehicle, and current auto insurance; ability to travel daily within the assigned service territory.
• Ability to pass and maintain any state-required health screenings, immunizations, or clearances. 

Tasks:

You will implement written behavior intervention plans and individualized treatment goals with assigned clients under BCBA direction.
You will collect and record behavioral data during sessions using agency-approved data collection methods.
You will summarize session data and write professional session notes documenting client progress.
You will participate in supervision meetings with the BCBA to review data trends and adjust implementation as directed.
You will collaborate with caregivers and, where applicable, teachers or other providers regarding client progress.
You will attend and participate in case review during regular supervised therapy sessions.
You will apply crisis prevention and safety procedures as trained, under BCBA guidance.

Training:

You will begin with a mandatory general employer orientation covering agency policies, confidentiality (HIPAA), and workplace safety. This is followed by a structured 40-hour training curriculum aligned with BACB standards, covering core ABA concepts and procedures. Training also includes cultural sensitivity training to prepare you to work respectfully and effectively with families from diverse backgrounds. Prior to working independently with clients, you will complete overlap sessions in the field with senior therapists, using the Behavioral Skills Training (BST) model, instruction, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback, to build and refine your clinical skills in real session settings. Once providing direct service, you will receive weekly one-on-one mentor meetings with your supervising BCBA to review data, discuss case progress, and receive coaching on technique, in addition to ongoing in-session feedback. You will also attend team case review meetings and receive training on crisis prevention and safety protocols.
