The Pilates Intern will Assist with Pilates and wellness-related activities while gaining hands on experience in professional fitness and wellness enviroment. Duties my include:

- Help develop and organize pilates-based wellness activities and educational materials.
- Assist with creating individualized or group wellness activities under appropriate supervision.
- Maintain professional records and complete assigned projects related to Pilates, fitness, and wellness.

The student will participate in job shadowing with Pilates instructors and studio staff to observe client interactions, communication styles, motivation, goal-setting, and behaviors related to participation in physical activity. The student will receive guidance on maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and communicating respectfully with individuals from different backgrounds and with different wellness goals.

Training:
\n
The student will receive an initial general employer orientation covering the Pilates studio's policies, procedures, safety guidelines, workplace expectations, confidentiality, and professional conduct. The student will also receive an overview of the studio's services and an introduction to how physical activity and wellness practices can support psychological and behavioral well-being.
The student will participate in job shadowing with Pilates instructors and studio staff to observe client interactions, communication styles, motivation, goal-setting, and behaviors related to participation in physical activity. The student will receive guidance on maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and communicating respectfully with individuals from different backgrounds and with different wellness goals.

The student will have weekly one-on-one meetings with a supervisor or mentor to discuss experiences, review responsibilities, ask questions, and receive feedback related to the learning outcomes. Assigned tasks will be explained in the context of psychology and behavioral health whenever appropriate.
The student will also receive training through observation, guided hands-on activities, relevant wellness and behavioral health readings, and reflective discussions. These activities will help the student connect concepts from psychology courses—such as motivation, stress, behavior change, social interaction, and mental well-being—to real-world experiences in a wellness setting. Ongoing feedback from the supervisor will be provided to support the student's professional development and progress throughout the internship.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to: 1 Apply psychological concepts to a wellness setting by identifying how stress, motivation, behavior, emotions, and healthy habits can influence an individual's overall well-being. 2 Explain the relationship between physical activity and psychological well-being, including how movement and exercise may contribute to stress management, mood, self-esteem, mindfulness, and healthy behavioral patterns. 3 Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with clients, instructors, and staff while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and respect for individual differences. 4 Observe and analyze human behavior in a wellness environment by recognizing patterns related to motivation, participation, goal-setting, stress management, and the development of healthy behaviors. 5 Develop professional skills relevant to psychology and behavioral health through observation, reflection, teamwork, client interaction, and connecting academic psychological knowledge to real-world experiences.
