Preschool InternAt — Diamond Bar Montessori academy

The Intern at Diamond Bar Montessori Academy will support classroom teachers in providing a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment for students. Responsibilities include assisting with classroom activities and lessons, preparing materials, supervising children, supporting daily routines, and helping maintain an organized classroom. The intern will gain hands-on experience working with children while learning effective classroom management and teaching practices.

Tasks:

The student will assist with planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and classroom activities, observe and document children’s learning and development, practice classroom management and positive guidance strategies, and provide individualized support to students. Additional duties will include preparing educational materials, supporting daily classroom routines, communicating with teachers and staff about student needs and progress, and participating in classroom observations and discussions to strengthen professional teaching skills.

Training:

The student will receive an initial orientation covering Diamond Bar Montessori Academy’s policies, classroom procedures, safety expectations, and daily routines. Training will include job shadowing experienced teachers, guidance from the lead teacher and supervisor, and hands-on training in classroom management, lesson preparation, student supervision, and developmentally appropriate practices. The student will also receive ongoing feedback and support to help strengthen their teaching skills throughout the internship.

Learning outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to apply knowledge of child development, use effective classroom management strategies, assist with developmentally appropriate lessons and activities, communicate professionally with children, staff, and families, and strengthen their teaching and leadership skills through hands-on classroom experience.
