• Assist teachers with daily classroom routines, activities, and transitions.

• Engage with children during play, learning activities, outdoor time, meals, and other parts of the daily schedule.

• Help prepare classroom materials for art, sensory activities, projects, circle time, and other learning experiences.

• Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, sanitary, and welcoming classroom environment.

• Help set up and clean up activities, learning centers, tables, toys, and classroom materials.

• Support teachers during small-group activities and age-appropriate educational experiences.

• Read books, sing songs, participate in games, and interact positively with children.

• Model appropriate language, behavior, kindness, sharing, and respectful interactions.

• Assist with supervising children while always remaining under the direction of qualified staff.

• Observe classroom management techniques, teaching strategies, and child-development practices.

The student will perform the following professional and pre-professional duties under the supervision of qualified preschool teaching and administrative staff:

Observe and document children’s developmental progress, interests, behaviors, social interactions, and participation in classroom activities.
Assist teachers in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate learning experiences based on children’s age, abilities, interests, and developmental needs.
Support the implementation of curriculum activities in areas such as early literacy, language development, mathematics, science, art, sensory exploration, music, movement, and social-emotional learning.
Lead or assist with small-group learning activities, classroom centers, story time, art projects, and hands-on educational experiences under teacher supervision.
Develop and prepare age-appropriate lesson materials, activity plans, learning resources, and classroom presentations.
Observe experienced teachers and analyze classroom-management strategies, positive guidance techniques, instructional methods, and approaches to supporting individual children.
Practice developmentally appropriate communication and positive behavior guidance while interacting with children.
Assist in evaluating whether activities are meeting intended learning objectives and discuss observations and possible modifications with the supervising teacher.

Training:

Students will receive an initial general employer orientation covering Cypress Kinderland Preschool’s workplace expectations, daily operations, professional conduct, confidentiality, health and safety procedures, emergency procedures, classroom routines, and policies related to working with young children.

The student will receive ongoing hands-on training and job shadowing with experienced preschool teachers and administrative staff. Training will include developmentally appropriate practices, positive child guidance, classroom management, supervision and safety, sanitation procedures, effective communication with young children, activity preparation, classroom organization, and supporting daily routines and transitions.

Understand how play, art, music, movement, literacy, sensory exploration, and hands-on activities support early learning.
Participate appropriately in circle time, small-group instruction, outdoor play, and classroom learning centers.
