McKinleyville Community Services District: Parks and Recreation

The McKinleyville Community Services District is an independent special district established in 1970. Serving approximately 17,000 people, the District provides water, wastewater, parks and recreation, library, streetlights, and open space maintenance services to residents and businesses in the unincorporated area of McKinleyville.

The District has 26 full-time and 60 part-time employees and its operating budget for fiscal year 19-20 is approximately 10 million in revenue. Water service is provided to approximately 5,800 active connections and wastewater services are provided to approximately 4,900 active connections. District staff operates a state-of-the-art wastewater management facility (commissioned in late 2017) utilizing two extended aeration basins and secondary clarifiers.

              Mechoopda Tribe of Chico Rancheria

              The ancestral village of the Mikćapdo was located on Little Butte Creek, less than 4 miles south of downtown Chico. The people of Mechoopda survived based on strategies, technologies and knowledge associated with a "hunting and gathering" economy. Today, the Mechoopda Indian Tribe is a federally recognized tribe comprised of 560 Tribal Members and governed by a Tribal Council elected by the General Membership.               MCCF provides children with essentials and necessities, hopes and dreams, opportunities and activities. We respect the dignity and privacy of all children and families.

              We are a trusted partner of the County, City of Fort Bragg, school districts, Red Cross, local, family, and regional foundations, and community members like you. Unlike other organizations, we are primarily funded through private donations

              In recent years, the Mendocino Coast Hospitality Center has added additional services for the homeless and mentally ill in our community - including Transitional Housing projects, case management services, vocational services, mental health services, and more.

              In 2015, though a Community Development Block Grant from the City of Fort Bragg, and a large donation, MCHC acquired the Hospitality Center facility at 101 N. Franklin Street in Fort Bragg.

              Mendocino County Youth Project, also known as MCYP or “The Youth Project” began in 1974 by the Mendocino County Probation Department, supported by community advocates and local educators seeking solutions for youth who were having difficulty at school, in the community or in the home. MCYP became   autonomous as a joint powers agency in 1992 and is governed by a board of directors with members appointed by the Mendocino County Office of Education, the City of Ukiah, and the Ukiah, Willits, and Fort Bragg school districts.
