This site is only available for social work students with an approved employment-based proposal. 

This site is only currently eligible for SW 355 volunteer placements, not full social work practicum for senior year or MSW students. 

The Siskiyou Union High School District (SUHSD) is located in Siskiyou County. Siskiyou County is centrally located in inland Northern California, adjacent to the Oregon border. Greater than 60% of the land within the county is currently managed by agencies of the Federal and State Governments. As the 5th largest county in the state by area, and the largest county in Northern California, Siskiyou County features spectacular natural beauty and scenic cities and towns including the towns of Happy Camp, McCloud, Mount Shasta, and Weed that Siskiyou Union High School District serves.

The district covers approximately 347 square miles and consists of four comprehensive high schools and one continuation high school in four separate communities, each having a rich history and unique cultural identity. Several of the high schools are geographically isolated and are considered small necessary high schools. For example, Happy Camp High School with 60 students is the District’s most remote school.

Activities with this group may include paid employment and unpaid intern tasks. For more information, contact site staff. Students should be aware of the following:

• All activities guiding groups on hikes/raft tours will be paid.
• All activities around customer payments (taking cash, credit cards, etc) will be paid.
• Most rafting trips launch from the Junction City (38400 CA HWY 299) location on the Trinity River and float down to the USFS Big Flat river access; additional trips launch from the Big Flat river access down to the USFS French Creek river access.  Rental boats/gear are managed out of the Willow Creek (39008 CA HWY 299) office.  The only hike guided tours meet at the Junction City location, then drive to the Canyon Creek Trailhead in the Trinity Alps Wilderness. 

Social Model Recovery Systems provides direct treatment services (at 11 locations in Los Angeles County) for those whose lives have become unmanageable due to alcohol and other drug use and/or whose mental health issues are interfering with leading productive lives.

The mission of the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) is to foster student success through service to students, schools, and the community.

SCOE is a partner to the county’s 40 districts, providing services and oversight that help them serve roughly 66,500 students. SCOE does not have or create policies directing district behavior. Each district sets its own policies. Here are some of the key programs SCOE offers:

• Service and support to help districts meet legal mandates, operate cost-effectively, and raise student achievement.
• Fiscal oversight to districts.
• Schools and services for special education and alternative education students who are not enrolled at district sites.
• College and Career Readiness Services helps districts prepare their students for college and career.
• Professional development for teachers and administrators.

This department is NOT covered by the existing Social Work Only Placement agreement and allows only employment-based placements.
