Scotts Valley Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)

The Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians is the Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) designated social services provider for Contra Costa County and provides assistance under the Tribal TANF program to all eligible Native American Families residing in the county. We also serve enrolled members of the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians who reside in Sonoma, Lake and Mendocino Counties and Big Valley Tribal Members residing on and off Big Valley Rancheria.

The mission of Scotts Valley Tribal TANF program is to provide culturally relevant social services, with the goal of encouraging the formation and maintenance of healthy and self-sufficient Native American families. Also, to support the preservation of two parent households, inspire individual growth, and preserve positive cultural traditions within our Native American Communities.

Founded in 1977, Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples emerged from Indigenous communities during the cultural, social, and political renaissance era of the ’60s and ’70s. Leaders of the time, such as our primary founder the late Daniel Bomberry (Salish/Cayuga), included chiefs, clan mothers, youth, and community activists. These leaders established the organization to respond to the needs of grassroots Indigenous communities and initiatives.

Seventh Generation Fund focuses on cultural revitalization, leadership development, tribal sovereignty, and culturally appropriate economic development. Our organization grew and evolved into the foremost Indigenous social-profit organization in the U.S. serving transnational community-based organizations.

Greater than 60% of the land within the county is currently managed by agencies of the Federal and State Governments. As the 5th largest county in the state by area, and the largest county in Northern California, Siskiyou County features spectacular natural beauty and scenic cities and towns including the towns of Happy Camp, McCloud, Mount Shasta, and Weed that Siskiyou Union High School District serves.

The district covers approximately 347 square miles and consists of four comprehensive high schools and one continuation high school in four separate communities, each having a rich history and unique cultural identity. Several of the high schools are geographically isolated and are considered small necessary high schools. For example, Happy Camp High School with 60 students is the District’s most remote school.

Six Rivers Brewery

Students are allowed to work on business management projects, including marketing campaign strategies for this site. Students may visit the site to observe operations and conduct these activities. However, students may NOT directly work with/serve alcohol, or conduct any activities that contribute to direct financial gain: i.e., no  alcohol sales/cash handling are allowed (however, work on  payrolls, tax returns, bookkeeping are ok).

Six Rivers Rafting

Activities with this group may include paid employment and unpaid intern tasks. For more information, contact site staff. Students should be aware of the following:

  • All activities guiding groups on hikes/raft tours will be paid.
  • All activities around customer payments (taking cash, credit cards, etc) will be paid.
  • Most rafting trips launch from the Junction City (38400 CA HWY 299) location on the Trinity River and float down to the USFS Big Flat river access; additional trips launch from the Big Flat river access down to the USFS French Creek river access.  Rental boats/gear are managed out of the Willow Creek (39008 CA HWY 299) office.  The only hike guided tours meet at the Junction City location, then drive to the Canyon Creek Trailhead in the Trinity Alps Wilderness.

We are the largest psychiatric research facility in northwestern California, serving over 7,500 patients across six counties. SCR is located in Santa Rosa, California and provides treatment to patients living in Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Solano and Marin Counties. We serve a diverse adult patient population and are currently accepting new patients.
