Plaza De La Raza
Plaza de la Raza Cultural Center for the Arts & Education is the only multidisciplinary community arts venue dedicated to serving the Eastside neighborhoods of Los Angeles. Founded in 1970 by prominent labor, business and civic leaders as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, it offers affordable after-school, intergenerational arts education programs to nearly 4,100 children, teens and adults each year. Its mission is to foster enrichment of all cultures bridging the geographic, social, artistic, and cultural boundaries of Los Angeles, and beyond.
Programs and Services Offered
Each quarter we offer nearly 80+ classes in four artistic disciplines: dance, theater, music, and visual arts. Our classes range from beginner level to conservatory level - and we have classes for all ages and skill levels. At certain points in the year, we have Cultural Events that range from recitals to performances to festivals to art exhibitions. In addition, we also provide assistance to needy families who are finding it difficult to navigate the bureaucracy of social services. We also have an extensive partnership and database for organizations and City agencies who can provide relief in any form (material or financial) to our neediest families.
