CHHS students to assist Probation Officers in various units inclucing the Pretrial Release Program assessment of those in custody for possible early release. This new program (started Oct. 2012) screens all individuals who are arrested and booked into county jail the day (or on Mondays, the weekend) before. Interviews are conducted at the jail to determine who might qualifiy for release on his or her own recongnizance.  Very fast-paced and interesting experience. All students must pass a background check. Currently three probation officers in the unit who screen each day.

Health & Safety

Schedule interviews early with intern coordinator.

Students should have done their research about the probation department and ask questions of the intern coordinator. Interview can take between 30 minutes to 1 hour, including paperwork. Students will need to bring 2-3 references with them to the interview. Students should let references know they need to respond to the intern coordinators phone calls ASAP.

Students will then need to call to schedule the orientation and livescan. Livescan costs $25 at the sherriff's office and should turn around in a week.
