Salud is here to make sure all people have the healthcare and the support they need to have healthy lives. Our clinics have been the main source of low-cost, high quality healthcare in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties for almost 40 years.

Program Information

Community Services Intern:

Virtual Case Management, Virtual therapy sessions, over the phone link to community resources, provide support with systemic programs.

Clinic Operations Intern:

The Clinic Operations Intern may complete and participate in a variety of projects and activities that
facilitate the day-to- day operations of the health center and which supports the mission and vision of
the agency.
Activities and projects may include, but are not limited to the following:
 Assist with clinical provider credentialing and privileging applications. Scan and upload to database,
edit and update forms, etc.
 Contact patients “not seen.” Inform of process to change PCP with insurance.
 Update patient’s empanelment status. (i.e. “non-Salud PCP,” etc.)
 Copy and produce patient materials and packets (i.e. CPSP, SDIPP) and SDIPP patient packets
 Attend school screenings; assist with student form completion, data entry and tracking.
 Review and track immunization status of employees; Enter into tracking log.
 Compile and centralize HEDIS scores
 Assist Vaccine Program with administrative support (e.g. copy and laminate VIS sheets, etc.)
 Survey patients about their satisfaction with services and care provided. Compile and analyze data.
Prepare report of findings.
 Obtain patient feedback on patient educational materials. Compile and analyze feedback. Prepare
report of findings.
 Research and develop health education content for lobbies (e.g health topic of the month, etc.)
 Participate in community events, including tabling at health fairs and other events, food distribution,
etc.
 Assist in preparation for and observe Shared Medical Appointments.
 Participate in Employee Wellness activities. Research best practices for how to make employees feel
appreciated and engaged in/at their work and develop recommendations.
 Research and recommend best practices on health center use of social media.

 

Other semesters:

Outreach and Education: Student to assist with empanded medical services through the Health Exchanges established with the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Student could assist with presentations to local nonprofit agencies to clarify new services available in the various clinics including Wastsonville and Greenfield.

Patient Engagement and Evaluation: student may assist with gathering and analyzing data from patients to further improve services

Human Resources: student may assist with revision of New Employee hiring and training processes.

Systems Management: Slaud has receive a large federal grant to remodel the main clinic in Watsonville and needs help with fund development in this area in the form of a captial campaign.

Health & Safety

Student will need to be vaccinated for flu at the beginning of each flu season (or wear a mask while onsite).
