Organization Description Interim is a private non-profit organization with 18 facilities in Monterey County serving individuals with psychiatric disabilities.Services include housing,outreach case management,family support programs, homeless assistance,etc. Placements available in Salinas, Monterey, and Marina.
Interim, Inc. is the only agency in Monterey County that provides affordable housing, residential treatment, social support, homeless outreach and support, family outreach and supported education, and employment services for adults who have serious mental illnesses. Our mission is to provide services and affordable housing supporting members of our community mental illness in building productive and satisfying lives.
Program Information Shelter Cove is a transitional housing program for 36 homeless adults living with psychiatric disabilities. Located in Marina, the two-year program is designed to help residents learn the skills they will need to successfully transition to independent living. Participants are required to manage their own medications, prepare their own breakfasts and lunches, do their own shopping, budgeting, and laundry, and to care for their own units.
Sandy Shores provides permanent, affordable housing for 28 homeless adults living with psychiatric disabilities in Marina next to the Shelter Cove program. The housing is provided in two- and four-bedroom units. Each resident has a private bedroom and shares a common living area.
CHHS interns will have the opportunity to learn and eventually practice case management and cofacilitation of groups. Students will learn and practice inidividual assessments and individualized case planning. Students will also learn how to manage emergency interventions. Students will learn about community services and practice referring clients to services. Students will support clients with practicing daily living skills, striving for self- sufficiency.
