Organization Description

The Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE) is a vital component of our K-12 education. We serve as a critical link between our county's schools and both state and federal governments, and we provide indispensable and cost-effective services to local schools and districts.

 

Program Information

We are a public Waldorf school serving K - 8 students. Interns work in the classroom or in the administrative offices supporting students and families. Previous interns have had a chance to use the classroom as a laboratory to study student relationships and child development, body image and self esteem, bullying prevention, the effect of mindfulness in the classroom and supporting an agency through grant writing.

Classroom opportunities:

Special education department support only Spring 2022. The candidate would be asked to do the following: Collaboration on how best to serve the students with special needs (mild to moderate), observe and gather data on students, practice good record keeping skills, administrative duties, communicate with team-members on observations, establish rapport with students, and aid in tracking progress (which may entail administering protocols, and scoring reports).

This would involve small group work; Also interested in physical education activities; and after-school activities.

Public Admin opportunities: Grantwriting/fundraising. Coordinating student acts of service, data entry and assisting teachers in the classrooms as needed. Assemble data and create reports based on educational data for school accreditation.
