Monterey Jazz Festival

Organization Description

The Monterey Jazz is dedicated to perpetuating the uniquely American form of music known as jazz by producing performances that celebrate the legacy and expand the boundaries of jazz; and by presenting year-round local, regional, national, and international jazz education programs. The Monterey Jazz is a non-profit organization and has donated its proceeds to musical education since its inception in 1958.

Program Information

Traveling Clinicians / Monterey County Honor Ensembles: For one week a month during the school year, the Monterey Jass Festival sends top professional musicians to work with students in classrooms throughout Monterey County, helping them develop their jazz skills. 2. Next Generation Festival: Every Spring, the Monterey Jazz Festival invites the top student musicians from across the county and around the world to participate in the Next Generation Festival. Participants vie for a chance to play on the stages of the Monterey Jazz Festival, for a spot in the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra, and for awards, scholarships, and cash prizes
