Central Coast Continuation High School- MPUSD

Organization Description

MPUSD is the largest school district on the peninsula serving children K-12.

All students must complete fingerprinting, TB tests and district orientation through Human Resources before starting the placement.

Program Information

Central Coast High School is a continuation high school that supports students who are credit deficient and could benefit from a smaller environment with additional supports to get them back on track for graduation. Some students have been through the Juvenile Justice system and may be on probation. CCHS collaborates with many social service agencies including probation and behavioral health.

CHHS students will work closely with Mental Health Clinician, Tara Peterson, to assist Central Coast HS students in achieving academic success. Interns may assist with presentations on mental health topics, assist with truancy reduction activities, and assist with engagement activities with student support staff to create a positive student climate. Students will also conduct outreach to parents and may collaborate with probation officers to help students meet their goals.

Interns will have the opportunity to coordinate and run monthly student engagement events, will be an integral part in reviewing universal screenings for possible services and meeting with potential students to determine their level of interest, and support case management in all educational option programs as well as at the adult school. They will run weekly mental health rehabilitation groups at Community Day School and will be a check-in/check-out staff member. The intern will have almost endless options to complete a Capstone project of their choosing.  Supports: Are invited to participate in Tier 2/3 meetings and are offered weekly individual supervision as required dependent on skill level and individual need.
