Program Information

Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year!  We are all very excited about this upcoming school year!  Many exciting things are happening at Edison this year.  We are now in our 5th year of having the option of the Spanish Dual Immersion program for our students.  The program has been extremely popular and it has been full each year.  We have families attending Edison from throughout the Sacramento region.  Students come from as far away as Fair Oaks, Roseville, Natomas, and Elk Grove for their children to become bilingual and biliterate in both Spanish and English.  We have also grown into a full K8 site this year.  All Edison students (Dual Immersion and English) will be at Edison from Kindergarten through the 8th grade.

Edison is also growing our College and Career Awareness program this year.  Each classroom is attached to a different college and each grade level visits a different college for the day to learn about it and what types of programs the school has available.  Some examples of the colleges that students visit are:   Sacramento State, UC Berkeley, Stanford, etc.

Our school garden will be finished this year.  We are working with Soil Born Farms (located right next to our campus) and UC Berkeley to further enhance the connection between our garden and our science curriculum.  We will be moving a shed to the area, making a border around the edge of the garden, and then having a full year plan with all grade levels and after school programs using parts of the garden throughout the year.

We are also continuing to add and improve our before and after school program.  More than 200 students participate in the program each day from 2:30-6:00.  We have two programs for parents to choose from (Arden Manor and Bridges).  We also have more than 25 individual programs for students throughout the year.  Some activities include cooking, Show Choir, guitar, violin, piano, band, Hip Hop Crew, Folklorico dancing, basketball, soccer, tennis, golf, boxing, etc.

Edison is a special place and we are looking forward to having an amazing year for our students.  GO TIGERS!
