Organization Description

Our Mission is to feed and nourish the sick as they battle critical illness. Volunteers and staff cook and deliver nutritious meals, free of charge, to homes throughout Los Angeles County to alleviate hunger, prevent malnutrition and return clients to health.

Our clients are generally homebound individuals suffering from many ailments such as cancer, heart disease, kidney failure, stroke, AIDS and Alzheimer’s. Many live below or near the federal poverty level and have low or very low food security.

Program Information

From the kitchen of a small church in West Hollywood, a group of caring friends came together in 1989 to provide meals to their neighbors who were literally starving while fighting a range of devastating life-threatening illnesses. Project Angel Food is a grassroots agency -- an extension of the concern we have for our most vulnerable fragile neighbors who are dealing with one of the most intense and frightening experiences one can know. Our dedicated corps of 3,600+ volunteers of all ages, generous donors and caring friends help us save thousands of precious lives throughout Los Angeles County.
