Organization Description

We meet kids and families at the most challenging times of their lives and help them overcome some of life’s most difficult circumstances – complex emotional and behavioral issues, and family crises. We restore hope, help children find joy in daily living, and improve families’ chances at making a better life for themselves and at finding a place in their community where they can be successful. Casa Pacifica is committed to children unconditionally over time and through all of life’s ups and downs.

Health & Safety

Students will check-in through the administration office. The receptionist will call the education office and they will meet the students. Students will have a sign-in sheet to track hours and submit the form to the university upon completion of the term.

The primary disability of students enrolled at Casa Pacifica is an emotional disturbance. There are varying degrees of emotional dysregulation and our staff will never place, or recommend a CSUCI student to be placed in a situation or setting where there is any potential for personal harm. Our students are typically well behaved and do well with tutors, visitors, and observers.

There may be an occasion where CSUCI students observe or tutor a student who was incarcerated in juvenile hall. The reasons for incarceration are not school-related and our kids on probation are typically well behaved at schools.

There has been no criminal activity with the Non-Public School. However, there have been cases of criminal activity with youth in the RTC (residential treatment center).

Before CSUCI students are on campus, they will meet with members from our volunteer coordination team. These staff will review Casa Pacifica protocols, review Casa Pacifica programs, settings, some policy, and procedures, and take copies of the student's driver license or state ID. CSUCI students must be in attendance for this orientation before participation in any of our programs.

Students will be required to complete onboarding documents, such as privacy forms related to HIPPa and FERPA.

Orientation will include meeting with members from our volunteer coordination team. These staff will review Casa Pacifica protocols, review Casa Pacifica programs, settings, some policy, and procedures, and take copies of the student driver's license or state ID. CSUCI students must be in attendance for this orientation before participation in any of our programs.

As a school, we can take photos of our kids, and we do for year-end videos. However, due to privacy issues and concerns, guests and/or volunteers are not permitted to take photos of any student.

All students served at Casa Pacifica have IEPs (individual Education Plans). All staff work to ensure the academic and social/emotional goals are met. Often, staff utilizes the behavior plans developed through the IEP process and specific strategies created through the treatment team or student study team meetings.
