MPUSD is the largest school district on the peninsula serving children K-12.

All students must complete fingerprinting, TB tests and district orientation through Human Resources before starting the placement.

Program Information

Monterey High School is a comprehensive public high school serving grades 9-12. The target population served wo;; be 9th grade students who are struggling academically and need support in developing study habits, organization and self-advocacy. 47% of the students at this high school are considered low-income and the total enrollment of the school is 1209 students.

Seeking 3 CHHS interns to work with school counselors to serve at-risk students. Interns will have opportunities to practice counseling, interviewing collaboration and communication skills as they meet with high school students and advise them on academic success. Interns will be assigned a caseload of students to support, will maintain records and files of assigned students including documentaiton of services provided and student progress made. Weekly meeting will be held to to provide supervision and support for interns at the site.

  • Completed Volunteer form (application with field staff)
  • Valid TB test Clearance
  • Fingerprint Clearance from DOJ (application with field staff)
  • A letter from your professor/program coordinator verifying the program you are participating in, where you are being placed and for how long.

Interns will have close proximity to yough adults and may be exposed to illness. INterns should maintain regular health practices including frequent hand washing and following all safety policies for MPUSD.
