Program Description:  Project RECONNECT is an adolescent substance abuse outpatient program targeting youth ages 13-18 years old. 

Clientele Served: Adolescent substance abusers ages 13-18; Services are provided at various locations including school-based services; Juvenile Justice facilities; Agency Site and Health Clinic site.

Issues Program Addresses: Substance abuse, dual diagnosis, gang affilations

Intern Assignments:Carry a caseload of adolescent substance abusers providing the following services:  Outreach and Engagement; Community Education; Intake & Assessments; Treatment Planning; Individual Counseling; Group Counseling: Psycho-Educational and Process Groups; Family Support and Counseling; Pro-Social Activities; Case Management and Discharge Planning.

Additional assignements may include coordination of events and conferences; Attending program and agemcy specific meetings; Advocacy; etc.

Intern Training & Educational Opportunities: Weekly clinical supervision (group and individual); Santa Clara County Internal Certification trainings; trainings offered through the Learning Institute; Agency wide trainings 2-3 times per month.

Intern Benefits: (Include stipend, conferences, car, food, etc.)Stipend available depending on program budget; Mileage reimbursement.

Other Special Placement Procedures or Requirements (Including Dates of Internship, Special Application Forms and Deadlines): 10 months minimum commitment; Intern interview and background check required prior to acceptance to internship.  Interns can enter placement year-round, but if wanting school-based experience, interns must be able to work September through June.

Project RECONNECT is open to BASW and MSW interns, however 2nd year MSW interns highly preferred. Spanish speaking or Asian languages (Vietnamese, Tagalog, Khmer)  highly preferred.
