Program Description: Annually serves 1,000 homeless, low-income, disabled, and frail elderly aged 60 and older, 25% of who are homeless. Daily programs include a hot lunch, fellowship, caring support and case management services to access and maintain housing. The Senior Center maintains a small housing fund to help cover one-time costs associated with paying rent or a security deposit.
Clientele Served:Low-income, homeless, younger disabled (18-59) adults and frail elderly.
Issues Program Addresses: Homelessness, housing, immigration, nutrition, social isolation and senior activities
Intern Assignments: Case Management, co-facilitation of support groups, outreach and activities (may choose one or more)
Intern Training & Educational Opportunities: Case Management, advocacy, support group organization and facilitation, meetings with service providers serving the elderly
