Program Description:

Raphael House is a short-term residential program that supports families who are experiencing homelessness. Families who participate in our program are provided with an array of supports, including case management, career development, mental health, and children’s program, in order to work towards their goals of obtaining stable and permanent housing. Families who move out of Raphael House then participate in the Bridge Program, which provides after care support to families in order to ensure they are able to successfully stay housed.

BASW’s are placed in our Case Management Program, while MSW students can be placed in Case Management and/or Mental Health program.

Case Management: Residential Program and Bridge Program

  • Learns how to document and enter program data into current database.
  • Learns how to conducts phone screenings for intake assessment for program eligibility.
  • Attends program meetings.
  • Bridge Case Management only: May observe and participate in a caseload that is primarily assigned to a program staff for professional growth under direct supervision
  • Learns how to conduct assessments, as needed.
  • Learns how to attend community meetings to build and maintain partnerships.
  • Learns how to conduct community outreach
  • Other learning opportunities as assigned.

Mental Health-Counseling Services under the supervision of the Clinical Social Worker

  • Observe and participate in a caseload that is primarily assigned to a program staff and participate in an individual, couple’s, children’s, and family therapy counseling for clients under the direct supervision of the program staff.
  • Attends program meetings, if applicable.
  • Individual and/or group supervision is required.
  • Complete all necessary documentation including but not limited to: Progress Notes, Mental Health Wellness Assessments, Treatment Plans, and Client Contact Notes.
  • Learns how to document and enter program data into current database.
  • Learn how to schedule clients for intake and ongoing meetings with guidance from the Clinical Social Worker.
  • Attend community meetings to learn how to build and maintain partnerships.

Raphael House is a family shelter. Each family must have one adult over the age of 18 with at least one child in their custody who is under the age of 18. Women in their third trimester of pregnancy or experiencing high risk pregnancies also qualify.

  • Mental Health to address the stressors and challenges of homelessness, past trauma, and strengthen family bonds.
  • Children’s Programs to provide children at Raphael House with creative and therapeutic outlets to express their feelings.
