Program Description:

Each year, CROC provides direct emergency services to 900-1000 domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking victims, providing them with information on and assistance in emergency restraining orders and child custody, visitation, and support orders.

Clientele Served:

CROC’s clients are victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.  Many are in a state of crisis when they first contact our agency.  Most are low-income.

Most of our clients are people of color, and many are immigrants.

28% of our clients are non-English speakers or have limited English proficiency.  In the past year, we assisted non-English speaking clients in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean, Palestinian Arabic, and Portuguese.

 

Issues Program Addresses:

 

Domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking

Intern Assignments:

Internship duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing support, referrals, case management to individuals seeking services from CROC.
  • Answering the CROC hotline and screening for appointments
  • Providing intake support at CROC’s legal clinics
  • Providing accompaniment to court hearings
  • Supporting and expanding volunteer opportunities at CROC including increasing linguistic capacities
  • Attending meeting in the larger community to increase community collaborations and networking
  • Provide community education presentations about CROC’s services to the community
  • Assist with grant writing and development duties to support increased income generation

Intern Training & Educational Opportunities:

  • Weekly supervision
  • Access to in-service training at CROC’s member agencies and the Domestic Violence Consortium

Other Special Placement Procedures or Requirements (Including Dates of Internship, Special Application Forms and Deadlines):

  • 40 hour state certified domestic violence training required –or- Attendance at the next available training.
  • Interview with all CROC staff required prior to acceptance.
  • Excellent writing skills in English required.
  • Some flexibility with days and times of internship depending on program needs

Fluency in languages in addition to English highly desirable.
