Bird Ally X: Humboldt Wildlife Care Center
Bird Ally X: helping wild animals and the people who care for them.
Humboldt Wildlife Care Center: serving the northwest corner of California
Over 1200 injured wild animals per year are treated directly, and we address many more situations over the phone. Whether a Hummingbird who’s collided with a window, a Raccoon hit by a car, or a Barn Owl poisoned by rodenticide, most of the cases we treat are the result of unfortunate interactions with human activity or infrastructure.
Students serving with this agency for course credit are not allowed to drive to pick up or release animals (students should not be driving on agency business in general). Students can ride along with other volunteers/employees. Additionally, per Bird Ally X guidelines, all students are required to sign a release if they choose to help handle wildlife. All students must be 18 yrs. of age to be covered by Bird Ally X permits.
