Long Beach Organic Inc
We are a non-profit organization operating nine organic community gardens in the city limits of Long Beach, CA. Founded in 1994, we locate urban vacant lots from public and private owners and turn them into beautiful community gardens for local and sustainable food production. Garden plots are rented on a six month basis, March to Aug and Sept to Feb.
Many of our members are elderly and/or disabled and appreciate assistance with gardening.
Students working with LB Organic should have a reasonable level of physical fitness as they will be working outdoors doing gardening tasks. Sturdy shoes, clothes that can get dirty, and sun protection should be worn.
Our Saturday morning work days are group events at our various community gardens. Student volunteers will be working with interns, gardeners, and other volunteers under the guidance of the Garden Director
