Organization Description

The County of Humboldt's Learning Site Agreement (LSA) with Cal Poly Humboldt covers a variety of programs under the various branches of the County's offices and services. Individual sites will need Learning Site Self Assessments (SSA) to be valid placements for Academic Internships and Service Learning.

Please contact our office CCBL@humboldt.edu or call 826-4963 to inquire if your program is already covered or if additional paperwork will be needed.

Program Information

This site is for students serving directly at the Medical Therapy Unit only.  (This site is NOT for students reporting service at the actual actual school - Glen Paul School, which falls under another agency, the Humboldt County Office of Education- Programs.)

Estimated Commute Time: 20-minute drive to Eureka

Best time of day to go: M-F 8-5

It is a clinic within a school for children with disabilities. From 4 months old to 21 years old, but most of the patients you'll see are between 1 - 3 years old.

"Mondays through Thursdays are the days they see the most patients. It is a relaxed environment. The children can have unpredictable schedules so there may be a few cancellations, so you might find yourself cleaning toys, reading over the articles the PT gives you, or doing special projects."

"This is a really cool environment becuase you are able to observe both the PT and the OT during therapies and see a good variety of situations. The PT and OT love when the students show up on time and are professional and ask a lot of questions."

"You don't get to do much besides observe with the patients but you are able to run a Fit Club where you design a program, which can be really fun."

"The supervisor is very nice and helpful and creates a comfortable/fun environment to be in."

"Worth it if you like pediatrics"
