Organization Description

Our mission is to pursue a hunger free Alameda county so that no member of our community needs to worry about where their next meal is coming from. We do this through food distribution, policy and advocacy work, CalFresh outreach, health and nutrition initiatives.

Program Information

Volunteers are a vital part of our efforts to help 1 in 5 Alameda County residents including children, seniors, and entire families. Our warehouse and office are abuzz with hunger relief activity; and your help is needed more than ever.

Here's how you can help:

Weekday Food Sorting (when our need for volunteers is highest!)

Individuals and groups are needed Monday - Friday to help sort, screen and box fresh produce and non-perishable food for distribution to the Food Bank’s partner agencies.

Weekend Food Sorting

Join us on a weekend to sort food for distribution.

Emergency Food Helpline

Help households find same-day sources of food in their own neighborhood! (click to see more)

General Office Help

General office help is an ongoing need. Activities include mailing prep, phone calls, data entry, filing, and special projects. Office hours: Monday-Friday, 9 am-5 pm. Please email us at volunteer@accfb.org for information.

WAIVERGroups and individuals will need to complete a waiver form, which we will collect at the start of your shift or orientation. Click here to download one ahead of time.

Health & Safety

Because of current conditions and COVID-19 safety precautions, students this semester will not be on site. Future students may perform physical tasks in our warehouse or at our site which will require standing, and lifting.
