Alisal Center for the Fine Arts

Organization Description

The Alisal Center for Fine Arts is a creative hub for artists and advocates alike connecting, teaching and strengthening our community. Through a holistic approach, we cultivate youth leaders committed to cultural affirmation and community transformation. They offer free fine arts instruction in Traditional Aztec Dance, Visual Arts, Latin Percussion, Rondlla Guitar and Community Theater.

Program Information

Service opportunities providing Marketing, outreach and other possibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Artists in the Schools Program - Most of the work is done in East Salinas. Students can provide workshops for children in schools. This will include direct teaching and hands on experience.
  • Evening workshops are also conducted on Monday and Wednesday 5-8:00pm.
  • Mural painting: Multicultural and historical murals are also created all over our community. Indigenous backgrounds are thoroughly examined. Students will experience the planning of a mural. They will study the history about murals including ancient way of writing on walls and what it signifies (tlacuilo/writing). How to turn negative energy such as some graffiti into something positive.
