Program Description:
The UCSF Epilepsy Center is a major referral center for patients throughout the United States and offers state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment options for people with epilepsy. Our medical staff includes neurologists, neurosurgeons, pharmacists, neuropsychologists, social workers, mental health therapists, and nurses who have specialized training in epilepsy and the problems that are associated with both the acute and chronic manifestations of seizures.

Clientele Served:
Individuals with epilepsy, seizures, depression, anxiety, brain surgery,dual- and triple diagnoses.

Issues Program Addresses:
Morbidities include depression, anxiety, coping with chronic medical conditions, social isolation, medication side effects on mood and behavior, adjusting to life post-surgery.

Intern Assignments:
Case management inpatient and outpatient, social work duties inpatient and outpatient, discharge planning, treatment planning, linkaging to community resources, patient education, family education, intake assessment, 1:1 counseling.
