Program Information Coach Across America (CAA) is an AmeriCorps program launched by Up2Us to provide its member organizations with the support needed to train and host highly effective coaches in sports and youth development. As the first nationwide effort to mobilize a workforce to promote positive youth development through sports, CAA’s mission is to lead the United States in training and supporting expert sports-based youth development coaches in the nation’s most under-resourced communities to promote health and nutrition, educational success, civic engagement, and positive personal and social development among youth.
Host sites for CAA are high-level nonprofits, schools, and community centers whose athletic activities are the lifelines to success for their neighborhood youth. All of our CAA host organizations are dedicated to empowering youth through sports and committed to training, guiding and mentoring CAA members during their intensive terms of service. Though they utilize a wide variety of youth development models, each Host-Site meets baseline quality requirements that ensure a fulfilling experience for coaches and youth alike.
Throughout their intensive service terms, CAA members serve as coaches and mentors for youth in under-resourced communities, and work to ensure that all kids have the chance and the knowledge to make healthy choices, stay in school, and become leaders in their communities. It is the goal of Coach Across America that every coach graduating from our program leaves being: Capable of inspiring healthy, active kids; confident to pursue anything; and, committed to lifelong service.
