Program Information

The Family Place Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating a family storytime and playtime in conjunction with local social service and/or health agencies. The focus of the program is to create a space of fun learning for babies, toddlers, and their parents while availing them of local resources that they may need. Each program runs for 5-6 weeks. Students will be responsible for contacting local agencies to come and talk to parents. The programs must be bilingual.  Family Place parent child workshop preparation for potentially zoom activities meetings and literacy packets to provide to parents

Students will also learn the basic operations of the library and about the availability of Social and Health Services in Monterey County.

Working as the Family Place Coordinator will require collaboration with many external social services and other agencies that inform parents of social/health services that are available to them. Agencies include Monterey County Social Services, Behavioral Health, Health Department, First Five/Bright Beginnings, and others. In addition the student will be working in a library environment with other professional staff and will be required to abide by the same standard of punctuality, customer service, and professionalism.
