Program Description:

Adult Protective Services seeks to protect, prevent, and remedy abuse of elders and dependent adults. In-Home-Supportive-Services provides domestic and non-medical care to enable older, blind, or disabled adults to remain in their home and avoid institutionalization.

Primary Issues that the Program Addresses:

Physical and financial abuse of elderly and disabled; independent living and social isolation and neglect of this vulnerable population.

Populations and Clientele Served:

Older adults, dependent and disabled adults, vulnerable and low income (Medi-Cal qualified) clients.

Types of Services Offered by the Program:

Care coordination with providers (non-profits, medical community, other county departments), assessments, re-assessments and revocation when no longer appropriate. Case management and home/field visits.

Intern Assignments and Learning Opportunities:

Work side-by-side with MSW staff member to provide assessments, care coordination, home visits, and psycho-social support to clients. Opportunity to attend staff meetings and cultural competency or other committees as schedule allows.
