Program Information THE BLANK THEATRE COMPANY was founded in Hollywood in 1990. We are entering our 21st year of dedication to excellence and innovation in the theatre arts. Our mission is clear:
THE BLANK is committed to the enrichment of Hollywood’s cultural life through production of first-rate theatre, education of current and future artists, and creation of groundbreaking new works for the theatrical repertoire.
We seek to establish THE BLANK as Hollywood's first professional regional theatre.
THE BLANK attracts the talents of Hollywood’s most sought after actors, directors and designers who give acclaimed theatrical performances in the heart of Hollywood as well as mentor our apprentices and aspiring writers. We achieve our mission through our: “Mainstage Season”, “Young Playwrights Festival” and “Living Room Series” which bring young and developing artists into collaboration with established industry professionals.
Our Mainstage Season focuses entirely on new work
We believe the development of new plays is an essential component of a thriving theatrical community, both here in Hollywood and in the Nation at large. THE BLANK has won every “Best Production” Award possible and received “Critic’s Choice” designations from every major publication in Los Angeles.
Our Young Playwrights Festival has produced 220 plays by teen-aged writers in the past 19 years.
Winning writers from across the Nation and every walk of life are offered the opportunity to work with a professional writer/mentor. Their plays are then brought to life by teams of seasoned professional directors and actors and each is given several public performances in a month-long Festival.
Our Living Room Series is the very embodiment our commitment to develop new writers and new works.
Each Monday night we offer a “workshop” production of a new play, free to the public. We offer audiences a rare glimpse into the creative process. Many of these developing works have gone onto full scale productions at THE BLANK, as well as other prestigious national theatres, to wide acclaim.
