County Government providing a wide range of services. Departments include Health & Human Services, Information Services, Sheriff, Probation, District Attorney, Planning, Public Works, Parks, Elections, Personnel, Assessor, Auditor- Controller- Treasurer- Tax Collector, Agricultural Extension, County Administrative Office, and numerous others.

Program Information

The County of Santa Cruz Office of Response, Recovery and Resilience, located with the County Administrative Office, will be revising and updating the existing Climate Action Strategy. This document will guide our climate-related actions and policies for the next several years, at least. The updates to this strategy will rely on partnerships with local communities, environmentalists, scientists, industry and local/state government.

1) Fire Recovery - Health/Human component;

2) CalWorks & Parks Learning Pods Coordination;

3) COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Shelter & Care programs;

Participate in County Strategic Plan Steering Committee meetings, coordinate with County staff,
partners and others, conduct research and data collection and analysis, refine inventory of existing department and subject-area plans, assist with content development for website containing information and updates on the strategic planning process, assist with internal and external engagement methods including electronic survey and meetings, focus groups and/or workshops, participate in compilation of information and data gathered through the strategic planning process, and provide input on development of the strategic plan document.

Desired Intern Characteristics: Strong writer and communicator, able to work in Word and Excel, comfortable with data analysis, able to meet deadlines, familiar with local government, organized, active listening skills, interested in working with sub-demographic populations, punctual and reliable
