Exempt Sites for Paid and Pre-Arranged (by Student) Employment
Organization Description
Exempt instructions: All students reporting a placement with an employer MUST be pre-approved by faculty. Faculty should not be involved in directly placing students with an employer. While these positions are best pre-arranged or acquired by the student, faculty may recommend students to the site as long as the site screens the student candidates and has full control of the final hiring decision. Students should understand that their employer (not Cal Poly Humboldt) is fully responsible for their student employee Workers' Compensation and general liability in these cases. Students, please note the following:
- Please write the agency name of your employer in the field on the Student Learning Plan, a form that is part of the process when you report your "Exempt" placement in S4.
- Students should be prepared to provide the following to faculty (to be stored with faculty records) when reporting this "Exempt" site as their placement for Academic Internship or Service Learning purposes:
- Proof of employment (a copy of Letter of Acceptance, pay stub or note from employer)
- A Cal Poly Humboldt Student Time Log may also be recommended; please consult with your faculty.
