Organization Description
Operation Access (OA) is a non-profit organization that for the past 20 years has enabled medical providers to donate vital outpatient surgical and specialty procedures to over 10,000 Bay Area residents in need.  OA envisions health care equity for people facing barriers to care.  OA serves patients in six Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Sonoma through its San Francisco office).
Program Information

Intern wil participate in the recruitment of surgeons to conduct procedures for uninsired and underinsured clients many of whom are undocumented residents. Possible responsibilities include case management, health literacy education, medical interpreting, and in surgery support. The intern will serve as a health navigator an should be bilingual in Spanish with good communication skills, a sharp mind for porblem solving and planning. Background knowledge of mediCal insurance is good but not required.
