Organization Description

Since 2000, the Roosevelt Health Center has been working to improve adolescent health and well-being. We provide access to comprehensive and high-quality health care services including primary medical and dental care, behavioral health services, and health education in a respectful & youth-centered environment. Services are free of cost to all students. Roosevelt Health Center is operated by La ClĂ­nica, in collaboration with Oakland Unified School District, Asian Community Mental Health Services, Alameda County Health Care Services Agency - School Health Services Coalition, and Elev8/Safe Passages Partnership.

Program Information

Students can work on numerous health promotion projects for either middle (Roosevelt) or high school (San Lorenzo) students. Some potential projects include; coordinating lunch time wellness promotion events; support Peer Health Educator activities including the development of lesson plans and review of potential curriculum; conduct classroom presentations on various health topics; support coordination of a school-wide Health Fair; support targeted and multi-modal interventions for obesity and social emotional wellness including documentation and evaluation; support staff wellness activities including coordinating physical activity groups, mindfulness trainings and stress reduction strategies; Parent Workshops on healthy living.
