Organization Description

The San Francisco Breastfeeding Promotion Coalition aims to improve infant and child health and address health disparities by increasing breastfeeding initiation and duration rates, and exclusive breastfeeding rates for the first six months of life among all mother baby pairs in San Francisco County.

Program Information

We are working on a breastfeeding promotion project to build the capacity of community organizations to promote breastfeeding as a major primary prevention strategy. The intern would be involved in the development of the proposal, as well as work with us on outreach to potential participants, and assist with the preparation of a literature review. We think this is an excellent learning experience for a student interested in Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health and a chance to participate in the development of a strategy within the context of a community based coalition.
