Organization Description

The Volunteer Doula Program provides volunteer doula services for the women who birth at San Francisco general. Also provided are twice yearly doula trainings. Womens health and pregnancy/birth related education for women in the San Francisco City Jail, Jelani House: residential program for women who have been using street drugs and Hilltop School for pregnant teenagers.

Program Information

Possible projects include work for the next doula training in March, fundraising and grant writing, developing a childbirth preparation class for patients at SFGH, providing an educational session for the doulas at one of the monthly doula meetings, writing a blog for the newsletter, possible interviews with birthing women who have used the doula services for needs assessment and promotion of the program. Responsibilities include administrative duties, assisting in doula trainings, assisting with monly doula orientations and meetings.
