Organization Description

To conduct health disparities research, train junior faculty interested in health disparities research and reduce health disparities, especially in older, ethnically diverse adults. We are a health disparities research center that focuses on behavioral determinants of and interventions to reduce health disparities.  I am a professor whose research focuses on stress management, physical activity and self-care among low-income, underserved cancer patients, especially Spanish-speaking Latinos.

Program Information

The intern would work at the Laurel Heights UCSF campus located at 3333 California St, Suite 335, San Francisco. They would assist us with conducting telephone surveys in Spanish (fluency in Spanish is a must) to assess the post-treatment needs of Spanish-speaking Latinas with breast cancer. They would also do literature searches using PubMed and assist with grant writing activities. They would enter survey data in a structured database. They would translate research study materials (letters, surveys, etc) from English into Spanish. They would assist with the development of low-literacy patient education materials.
