Organization Description

The Rainbow Community Center (RCC) is the only organization in Contra Costa County that is solely focused on serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) community. We strive to create services and activities that will promote the mental, physical and spiritual well-being of our community by providing professional services, peer support, referral services, social opportunities and educational programs of interest to our community as well as to the community at large.

Program Information

Possible projects include: 1-Inclusive Schools Coalition (Central and East Contra Costa County); youth workshops on increasing respect for LGBTQ students; prep and help with delivery, identifyign venues for and distributing outreach materials aimed at family acceptance of LGBTQ youth. 2- Programs w/LGBTQ adults and older adults in West Contra Costa County; needs assessments, focus groups, outreach, and program development. 3- General Rainbow Community Center Support; researching grants and helping with proposals, supporting community events, conducting outreach across Contra Costa County to promote our programs and services *Please note: the student doe snot need to identify as LGBTQ, we welcome allies.
