Organization Description The Osher Center Clinical Practice on the Mt. Zion Campus provides integrative care to a large and diverse patient population. The clinic is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team of practitioners representing a broad range of healing disciplines. As the practice has grown in both volume and complexity, additional infrastructure has become necessary to ensure quality of care and financial viability
Program Information Interns can choose a major focus on either the Prepare for Surgery workshop or our Mindfulness program (including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting, and our newest course, Mindfulness-Based Dementia Care). Interns will participate in the day-to-day duties and responsibilities of the Osher Center’s Group Programs (public education classes), which includes preparing materials for courses and workshops, responding to phone or email inquiries, registering students for the Prepare for Surgery workshop, collecting statistics from course evaluations. Interns will also spend a smaller percentage of their time learning fundamental clinical operations. This includes gaining a fuller understanding of an integrative medicine clinic within the structure of UCSF. Interns learn how to interact in a sensitive manner with a diverse patient population. Interns will be taught to room patients, stock and clean exam rooms, answer telephone calls, and interact with the diverse Integrative practitioners at our clinic.
