Organization Description Breathe California is a locally governed organization that serves to promote lung health and clean air. The mission of the organization is that breathing should not be a struggle or a risk. Breathe California fights lung disease, promotes clean air and public health through individual, institutional and community change. In so doing, Breathe California helps children and adults lead healthier, more active lives and helps communities become healthier places to live. BC provides services and programs in the areas of tobacco control, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, tuberculosis and environmental and occupational lung disease prevention. BC also conduct extensive advocacy efforts to promote public policy for tobacco control, asthma and air quality.
Program Information San Mateo County Smoke-Free Multi-Unit Housing Policy Project: The activities in this project include: meeting with elected officials, reviewing potential draft policies, educate other community leaders, present findings and project results at Tobacco Education Coalition meetings, mobilize community support, participate in strategy session with other projects, present at city council meetings, and assist with policy development training. Collaboration for Children's Asthma Management and Prevention Program: Assist with outreach to social service providers for training opportunities, assist with training of trainers workshops, outreach to child care providers and parents for training workshops, and conduct evaluation follow up with childcare providers and parents.
